Feet Be Still, upcoming CD

I have been encouraged by many in the industry - as well friends, family and fans - to release an album of my own material and am excited to announce that the new CDis IN THE WORKS! Ian Tamblyn and I are co-producing the project (Ian produced my first CD) and we are recording it at Stove Studio in Chelsea QC with James Stephens (who engineered and co-produced Galitcha's 2 albums and Frida's Brow as well). It's a great team and I know the result will be a recording I'm proud of.

The songs I will record include 'Feet Be Still' which won me the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award and 'Sister's of Charity' which won the OCFF Songs from the Heart award in the historical category, both in 2008. The list also includes ‘The Map Inside’, 'Snow', 'Naysayer's Redemption', 'A Dog Named Money', 'Song for Tibet', 'The Promise of Peace', ‘Let Yourself In’, ‘Nightbird’ and 'Sweet Love'. I will also include 'Wayfaring Stranger' and ‘The Water is Wide’ both traditional songs with gorgeous melodies.

Let me know if you want to listen to a preview of what's on the new CD!

The musicians involved in the project include Stuart Watkins on bass, Olivier Fairfield on kit and percussion, Fred Guignon on guitars, Brian Sanderson on yukelele and horns, James Stephens on fiddle and mandolin, Don Cummings on organ and Ian Tamblyn on harmonium and hammered dulcimer. I will sing all the lead vocals and some harmony vocals as well as play acoustic guitar and mountain dulcimer. I can guarantee the musicians on this album are all world class!

Learn To Be Loved

Chris's debut album 'Learn to be Loved' was produced by Canadian folk legend Ian Tamblyn and included background vocals by her friend and musical mentor, Mae Moore. Chris also did the graphic design and artwork for the CD, website and promotional material.

Help the Project
Recording an album is an expensive endeavour. Costs include the producer fee, recording studio and engineer fee, musicians fees, mixing (making sure all the instruments are artfully and pleasingly combined on each song), mastering (the final polish) and manufacturing. As well, there are costs for marketing the CD including posters and mailing CDs to radio and prospective presenters (clubs, festivals, concert bookers) and hiring a publicist for the launch. Here are some ways that you can be a part of the project and benefit by supporting it! Just click on the title to contact Chris.

BAREFOOT SUBSCRIBER: $23 (includes mailing cost) You pay in advance and receive a signed copy of the CD mailed to you upon completion of the project - July 2009.
SNEAKER SUBSCRIBER: $45 This is the same as Barefoot but recieve 2 CDs.
HIGH TOP DONATOR: Donate $100 to $300 and recieve 2 CDs mailed to you,  a ticket to the release and your name in liner notes and/or website.
'SOLE' INVESTOR: Donate $300 to $500 and recieve 3 CDs mailed to you, 2 tickets to any Chris MacLean concert, and choose which song you want to sponsor - your name will be on the liner notes and/or the website beside info about that song.
WELL-HEELED PARTNER: Donate $500 or more and recieve 5 CDs mailed, 4 tickets to any Chris MacLean concert, your name on the liner notes and/or website OR 5 CDs and a house concert in your home (within driving distance).

All subscriptions/donations gain you my enduring gratitude and the satisfaction that you have made a very real contribution to the arts.

I hope to raise the necessary funds by June 5th, 2009 when I am going to send the mastered copy off for manufacturing.
